In the fall of 2004, Jamez Terry and Kelly Shortandqueer began planning a show that would mix education with entertainment, make transgender issues more fun and less intellectual, build bridges between marginalized communities, and concentrate on transpeople without focusing solely on their genders. Each year, the Tranny Roadshow compiles an eclectic cast of artists, each one self-identified as transgender. Both Terry and Shortandqueer travel and perform with the Roadshow. Performers and artists for the 2007 - 2008 season are listed below. Previous performer bios can be seen here: Roadshow 2006 ~ Roadshow 2005

Jamez Terry

Jamez Terry (alias Vermicious Knid) is a zine-writing, fiddle-playing, ex-gunfighting, tomato-loving, radical tranny boy. He moves as often as possible, in order to keep wreaking havoc in new parts of the world, and is currently living in Chesterville, ME. He has published more than 50 zines in the last 9 years with writings that include politics, fiction, poetry, personal stories, and humor, and, in 2003, he co-founded the Denver Zine Library. Jamez has worked in multiple queer activist settings, providing trans education at conferences, schools, churches, and nonprofits around the country. As co-organizer of the Tranny Roadshow, Jamez has found a way to unite all of the things he loves best - travel, zines, performance art, and queer/trans activism.

Kelly Shortandqueer has been making friends laugh with anecdotes about his life for years. He now brings this candid storytelling style of performance to the Tranny Roadshow stage, entertaining audiences with his honesty and humor. You can also find his stories in his zines, most recently his Shortandqueer series. Along with Jamez, Kelly is a co-founder of the Denver Zine Library and co-organizer of the Tranny Roadshow. He currently lives in Denver, works as the Director of Victim Services for the Colorado Anti-Violence Program, and enjoys spending nights at home, watching movies.

Shuguh Bair
started rapping when he was nine with 2 of his friends Danjah (RIP) and Loco. As he got older he wanted to be a rapper and it all seemed attainable even after he came out the closet as a lesbian. Years passed and there was clearly a lesbian/gay movement. However Shuggie saw very few people like him. At this point he had become transgendered. He felt like a man but embraced his transgender title and didn't feel the need to hide it. He brings you music from his masculine point of view. Visit Shuggie on myspace or visit his website.

Linda Bedore

Linda Bedore was born on December 4th, 1930, and named after her grandfather, Joseph. From very early on, Linda knew that she was different from the girls around her, but was fearful that if she told anyone, she would be outcast. At 19, Linda joined the Navy and was married soon after. Her first marriage produced 6 children but was spent hiding her true self from her family. Her second marriage, and subsequent divorce, gave Linda more chance to find herself. At age 73, Linda made the choice to transition. Now she travels extensively, enjoys country dancing, and always brings along her harmonica. Linda’s packed a lot of life into the past 4 years, and she’s ready for more!

Red Durkin

Red Durkin, from Bloomington, Indiana, is an up-and-coming artist that is, according to one review, "destined to be remembered posthumously". She has been featured in The Advocate and Punk Planet (she is both queer and punk). She is also the author of 8 different zines, ranging from nonsensical comics to autobiographical tell-alls. This year, she will be performing at Camp Trans. Her quick wit and talent for word play add a sparkle to her spoken word and as MC Redorix she is the nation's premier left-handed, red-headed, trans lady MC. She is a multi-talented, multi-faceted performer that you won't want to miss.

Dylan Scholinski

Dylan Scholinski was born Daphne Scholinski. As a young girl growing up in the Chicago suburbs, she played first base in Little League and preferred drawing to playing with dolls. When she was 15 years old she was locked up in a mental hospital, diagnosed as "an inappropriate female", and spent the rest of her high school years undergoing extreme femininity training. At 18, her insurance ran out and she was discharged.

Now 41 years old, Dylan resides in Denver, CO, and is a distinguished artist, author, and public speaker. Dylan has appeared on 20/20, Dateline and Today to discuss his experiences and has been featured in a variety of newspapers and magazines. Recently his award-winning book (The Last Time I Wore a Dress: A Memoir - Penguin/Putnam) was listed in the Top 10 Must Reads in Out Magazine’s first Transgender Issue. His work not only portrays the anguish of his hospital years but also his ultimate triumph. Dylan is the founder/witness for the Sent(a)Mental Project : A Memorial to Suicide. He spends much of his time working in his studio, public speaking, creating zines (Freedom of Depression, Please Forgive Me For Judging You, Sent(a) Mental), and frequently opens his studio to a variety of at-risk youth to provide safe space to explore ways of expressing and empowering themselves without bringing harm to themselves or others.Dylan's visual art also travels with the Tranny Roadshow.

If Joey Ramone and Ani Difranco had a baby, it would be Dallas-Marie Spitzer. She's played shows in smoky bars with crowds that much prefer their Pabst Blue Ribbon to her spoken word pieces, and she has even had bottles thrown at her, but she just throws 'em right back. A proud trans-girl and lesbian she takes a no-holds-barred approach to her music as well as her life. With songs ranging from relationships gone bad to bashing the government, she will give you a piece of her mind on a plate. With the heart of a folk singer and the spirit of a punk, she is the new voice for the younger trans-generation.
